A fiery and impressive figure, Asuka Langley Soryu had known Shinji Ikari since childhood. However, when the brilliant and exquisite Rei Ayanami joined their class, Asuka couldn't help but wonder if their friendship would last. As Shinji became interested in Rei, Asuka was left to ponder whether she wanted to remain just friends or seek something more. The relationships didn't go unnoticed, and many people, including Misato, the homeroom teacher, Ritsuko, the school nurse, and Yui Ikari, Shinji's mother and NERV's chief scientist, kept a watchful eye.
